OBJECTIVES—To describethe clinical and neuroradiological features of basilar impression inpatients with osteogenesis imperfecta type IV. METHODS—Four patientswith basilar impression were ascertained in a population study ofosteogenesis imperfecta. All four had detailed clinical andneuroradiological examination with both CT and MRI of thecraniocervical junction andposterior fossa structures. RESULTS—All fourshowed significant compression of the posterior fossa structures andsurgical decompression was performed with relief of symptoms. CONCLUSION—Symptoms ofcough headache and trigeminal neuralgia occurring in patients withosteogenesis imperfecta are indications for detailed clinical andneuroradiological investigation to document basilar impression.
